tulum, details

The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in the details of daily life. – William Morris

turning forty can be a daunting feeling. it can also be an honor, an accomplishment and a life altering celebration. it’s all in how you choose to see it.

back up six months. I dreamed of going to a distant, quiet beach where I could practice yoga, learn meditation and reconnect with friends. I searched and found a handful of destination options, but none spoke to me like the pictures of Tulum. white sandy beaches, crystal blue water, sunken limestone caves, ancient ruins… it sounded almost too good to be true. I connected with Sarah, whom I knew through my husband, she’s a photographer, a yogi and a traveling soul who had led retreats in other distant locations and asked if she’d ever been to Mexico. about 3 emails later we were dreaming up a retreat that would reconnect friends, give us a chance to honor our souls, rest our hearts and celebrate what was to come.

fast forward to October 19th. we arrive to a beautiful beach location where our boho villa on set among the rooms at the Amansala Eco-chic Resort south of Cancun, on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico.

among all the beautiful views of the ocean I also discovered the small details hidden among the daily life in and around Tulum.
